FAQ

  • Do I need any art experience to join?

Not at all. Imperfect Art was created for beginners and people who “aren’t creative”, our sessions are designed to be relaxed, welcoming, and pressure-free.

  • What exactly happens during an Art Café session?

You book a 2-hour slot, arrive, choose your materials, grab a drink, and create at your own pace. No instruction, no pressure, just pure creative freedom. And if you need any guidance, that’s what we’re there for.

  • What materials are included?

Every Art Café Session includes access to watercolours, charcoal, pastels, brushes, paper, inspiration books, and unlimited tea/coffee. Optional add-ons, such as acrylic paint, pressed flowers and vision boards, are also available.

  • What should I bring?

Just yourself. We provide all materials, refreshments, and good vibes.

  • Can I bring you my own materials?

We have everything you might need right here, every single session. But if you do have a favourite paintbrush, who are we to say no to that?!

  • Can I come alone?

Absolutely, most people do! Imperfect Art is designed to be a safe and welcoming space to unwind solo, meet new people, or bring a friend.

  • Can I reschedule my booking?

Yes. You can reschedule up to 24 hours before your session. If something changes, just use the link in your confirmation email.

  • Do you allow walk-ins?

We recommend booking ahead as our sessions often fill up, especially evenings and weekends. We need to know how many of us will be needed to be on site on the day, which is why we work on bookings only.

  • Are kids allowed?

Sessions are 14+ (under 18s must come with a parent/guardian).
For younger groups, private creative events are an option. However, due to the setup of our space, we recommend sessions for ages 9+. Younger children may find the environment challenging, so please use your judgement when booking.

  • Do you sell drinks or snacks?

We offer unlimited tea, coffee, and biscuits with every session you book. Some events may also allow BYOB (check your event details).

  • Do you offer private bookings?

Yes! We host birthdays, hen parties, team-building sessions and brand events. You can find more info on our Private Events page.

  • Where are you located?

We’re 2 minutes from Angel Tube Station in Islington. Exit Angel Tube and turn left onto Islington High Street, walk straight until you reach City Road (don’t cross). Turn left again, then another left onto Torrens Street, and head to number 5, ring Imperfect Art, and we’ll buzz you in. Follow the signs up to the second floor. If you need help finding us, call us at +44 20 8058 8537. We’re happy to guide you.

  • How do I book?

Sessions can be booked online in a few seconds: just choose your day, time, and session type. For private events, you’ll need to send us an enquiry via this link.

  • Do I have to choose my art medium when I book?

Nope! You choose your medium once you arrive at the studio.

Our host will talk you through each option and help you pick what suits your mood, your style, or the type of artwork you’d like to create.

  • Do you allow pets inside?

Yes! We’re a pet-friendly studio, well-behaved dogs are very welcome. (We’ve had a few four-legged visitors who stole the show.)

  • Is the building accessible for wheelchair users or people with mobility challenges?

Unfortunately, our building is an older structure and does not have step-free access or an elevator. Our studio is on the second floor, accessible only by stairs. We are actively exploring more accessible options for future expansion.

  • Can I book just one hour?

Not at the moment. All our sessions are 2 hours, which gives you enough time to settle in, slow down, and enjoy a proper creative break. We may introduce shorter formats in the future though, so sign up to our newsletter to be the first to know when we do.

  • Will we have the studio to ourselves for a private booking?

If your group is 8–15 people, yes, the studio is exclusively yours for the session. For smaller groups (2–7 people), you’re welcome to book an Art Café Session or Workshop, but the studio will be shared with other guests.
